Department of Agricultural Engineering
Soil and water conservation Lab
The soil and water conservation lab is established to impart wide range knowledge on soil and water conservation practices to the students. The department conveys in-depth information through conservation models related to water harvesting, contour farming, furrow irrigation and Agro-forestry models to enhance student’s perspective. Apart from regular computation analysis in designing and laying out of bunds, terraces and waterways, the students are taken to onsite field visits for studying erosion control and water conservation structures which gives hands on experience.
Dairy And Food Engineering Lab
DFE Laboratory is well equipped with machinery and measuring equipment related to milk processing. The major equipment available in the laboratory are Butter Churner, Butyrometer, Cream Separator, Lactometer, Milk testing centrifuge, Temperature reader, Batch Pasteurizer, Balance tank, Homogenizer. These facilities are used for practical class, project and research work of UG students
Farm machinery Lab
The FM Laboratory is one of the important laboratories of the Agricultural Engineering Department. It mainly includes the machinery for soil preparations, seed plantation, inter-cultural operations, plant protection, harvesting and threshing. The laboratory having tractor operated, power tiller operated, self-propelled and manually operated equipment. The machineries are being used for practical classes as well as for research purposes. FP laboratory has various source of farm power like tractors and power tillers. The laboratory also has the cut-section of tractor which helps in better understanding of the students. The various working models of the different systems of tractor like, fuel, gearbox, differential, steering, electric, etc is enhances the beauty of laboratory. Farm power laboratory has the facility to repair and maintenance of IC engines and tractor as a part of course curriculum.
Agricultural Process Engineering Lab
Agricultural Process Engineering Laboratory is fully equipped with all necessary equipments along with their accessories as required for the course. The laboratory is equipped with Hammer mill, Ball mill, Mixers, Separators, Prescreen cleaner, Sieve shaker. The Agricultural Process Engineering laboratory is actively engaged to understand the unit operations carries out in processing and handling of agricultural products and enhance the knowledge on fundamentals of Agricultural Processing. The experiments here are designed to demonstrate the various unit operations of biological materials by using agricultural processing equipment and also to provide a more intuitive and physical understanding of the theory. The students will be able to know how to process and handle the grains.
Principles of Agronomy and Soil Science Lab
The Principles of Agronomy and Soil Science Labis established to impart knowledge on various tillage operations carried out in agricultural field and also to know soil physical and chemical properties. The infiltration test is conducted to determine infiltration rate in the field and to now its significance in application of irrigation. Soil tests like pH and EC are done to know the soil nature in order to determine fertilizer recommendations and soil amendments in agricultural fields.Other soil properties like bulk density particle density are also determined in order to know the soil's ability to permit water and solute movement and soil aeration. Instruments like sunshine recorder, rain gauge and pan evaporimeter, wind vane, anemometer are used to know the meteorology of a place. Tillage Practices like ploughing, levelling are done with the help of various primary and secondary tillage implements. Sowing operations are practised manually and also with the help of seed drill. Weeding operation is practised manually by the students. Students understand how to use appropriate tests to evaluate various physical and chemical qualities of soil that are relevant to agriculture and irrigation.
